- Work Sample #6: Post-High-School Dream Board
- Description of Work/Assignment:
- Students had to pull inspiration from their lives in order to create a dream board showing what they wanted their life to look like after high school. Students could create their dream board as a physical collage or online collage or use it on their phone as a home screen/wallpaper. For my dream board, I used a mobile app for Pinterest and collage making and then used my final product as my screensaver on my cellphone.
- Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
- I feel that this project addressed the 21st-century skill of civic literacy and engagement. I had to think about what I’d like my life to look like after high school and how that relates to my community, and I’ll engage with it in the future.
- What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
- I am most proud of the way I was able to incorporate so much into my dream board. I wanted to include as much as I possibly could without making my dream board too scattered or confusing. So I am most pleased with the fact that I was able to include everything I wanted to while still making my dream board clear and organized.
- How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
- I feel that I improved upon civic literacy and engagement because I didn’t really use this skill much this year, but I found a way to use it in this project.
- What was most difficult about completing this task?
- The most difficult thing about completing this project was also the thing that I am most proud of. This was making sure that everything about my dream board was cohesive and organized while still fitting in as much as I possibly could.
- How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
- I really love how my dream board came out, so I don’t think that I would need or want- to improve upon it. But I think if I were to do the project again, then I would try to make the dream board larger.
- How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
- Last quarter we were really focusing on what we wanted to do in the future and after high school, so this project tied into what we learned from that and how we could actually apply it in our future.
- How can you apply this to future learning?
- I don’t really know how this project, in particular, could relate to future learning, but I could use the same skill if I had to create another dream board or wanted to use my dream board for a future project.
