Work Sample: Geometry Logo Project
For this project students had to use a number of topics from our geometry class in order to make a "logo" for our names. Students had to use different properties in order to form the letters, symbols, or number included in the designs. For this Project we had to include more then 5 letters and represent the different lines, angles, points, etc, with colors. Over all the project was pretty enjoyable and pretty straight forward to complete. From this project I am most proud of the clean and organized lines on the final result. In a lot of projects I kind of struggle with keeping my written or drawn work nice and neat. In this project I really focused on making my lines and drawing precise and organized. In my final product, I love that my marker and pen strokes came out nice. So overall for the logo project in Geometry I was most proud of how organized my lines and drawings were on the final product. The most difficult thing about this project, aside from making my lines precise and exact, was including all of the geometry concepts. For this project, student had to incorporate different aspects of geometry into their logos. Student had to include multiple examples of the same concept in different ways. Additionally, students had to use them correctly within the context of the logo. While doing this was one of the difficult things about this project, I still liked incorporating the same concept or idea into my logo in different ways. If I were to do this project again, I'd make sure to review all of the concepts and make sure that I incorporated them correctly into my logo. Adding onto this, I am proud of the lines on the final logo, but that doesn't mean that I can't improve on them. I am proud of the lines, but I do feel that I could have done better. There were some smudges and slanted lines, so if I were to do this project again then that would be one of the things I'd change. We did this project to review and learn about the vocabulary in geometry. Some of the things in the project were familiar and some were new. With past projects I've had to focus and make thing precise. I've also done projects in the past that include concepts that we used for the logo project. So in this project I kind of just got to apply that prior knowledge of making things neat, and using known concepts again. Since, I've learned these from the past and have used them for this project. So I can use things that I've learned from this project and use my previous knowledge for future assignments and projects 21st Century Skill: Thinking and Problem Solving Skills For this project, I think that thinking and problem solving skills fit best. At first I thought that self-directional skills would work best for this project. I soon realized that I (and multiple other students) completed this in class and we were given ample time in class to complete the project. So I thought some more about it and realized that thinking and problem solving skills fit this project much more. For this project I had to incorporate different and new concepts in different ways. I had to make multiple drafts, and then adjust them to fit the rubric. Because of this, I had different rounds or trial and error. I did little sessions of thinking and problem solving. For this project I brushed up on this skill and utilized it well. The project reminded me of why this is a 21st century skill. I got familiarized with the skill again, and I will be able to use it more effectively in the future as a result. |
