Playlist of Your Life: Senior Seminar, Quarter 1
- Description of Assignment / Work:
In my senior seminar class, we had to create a playlist for our life. For the assignment, we had to make a playlist of 10-15 songs that remind us of something or that are impactful in our lives. For each song, we had to write one to two sentences on why we chose it and a memory that was tied to that song. The songs on the playlists were then combined by our senior seminar playlist into one giant playlist. - What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I was honestly really happy with the final product. I don’t really think about music related to my experience of memories, so I got to think about the specific music that I listen to in a different way than I usually do. - What was most difficult about completing this task?
It was difficult to pinpoint specific memories and experiences in each song. I could think about broad experiences, but I had trouble figuring out specific examples for the songs that I chose. - How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
If I were to do this again, I think I honestly would’ve chosen different songs to highlight. I liked my choices, but I think I have better songs that have specific experiences tied to them. - How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? How can you apply this to future learning?
I’ve never done anything like this in school before, but I think it definitely helps with reflection and memory. I was able to draw on real experiences and nostalgia, which I’ll be doing far into the future, so connecting and reflecting on specific examples of it was good. - Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I think the 21st Century Skill that was addressed in this assignment was interpersonal skills. I had to talk with my friends about shared experiences tied to the songs, and I chose songs from my own childhood. I then shared those experiences and songs. I even made my friend listen to the playlist on the car ride home.
